Student Conferences

The BTI Consortium supports interreligious learning by funding student conferences, offering $250-$1,500 along with promotional support through member school networks. We welcome diverse conferences that align with the interests of BTI students from various backgrounds.

Examples of Past BTI-Funded Events

  • 2nd Annual Accessing the Divine Conference: Disability, Creation, and Relationality

Dr. Sharon Betcher’s keynote at last year’s ATD conference highlighted disability as key to reconciling humanity’s relationship with earth, setting the stage for papers on disability, interdependence, and creation. Next ATD is in 2025!

  • Theology, Religion, and Dungeons & Dragons

The BTI Consortium invited papers on the intersections of theology, religious studies, and Dungeons & Dragons for a graduate student conference, featuring a keynote speaker, papers, and a live D&D game. Papers had the chance to be published in an upcoming volume.

  • 1st Annual Accessing the Divine: Disability, Embodiment, and Claiming Joyous Futures

The Accessing the Divine conference challenged ableist views by affirming disabled bodies as key to divine revelation, with Dr. Sharon Betcher delivering the keynote address.

  • MyGration Christian Conference

The sixth annual ecumenical Mygration Christian Conference was held on October 4-5, 2024 at Gordon-Conwell—Hamilton.

World-class theologians, pastors, and community leaders spoke about what it means to care for (im)migrants and refugees in your neighborhood.

  • Engaging Particularities

Engaging Particularities is Boston College's longest-running, student-run comparative theology conference, fostering interreligious enrichment and cooperation. It includes diverse scholars and students, with the 2022 event leading to a special edition of the Journal of Interreligious Studies.
